What volunteer opportunities are available?

Volunteer Form

Individuals interested in volunteering at Foothills during Summer 2022 must complete the volunteer form. Approval must be granted by the administration staff before working as a volunteer Missions Work Site Supervisor, Skill Resource, Pastor, Nurse, Support Staff, or Family Group Leader.

 

Missions Work Site Supervisor

Tekoa Foothills (Historic Loy White Camp) provides turn-key, week-long mission trips for youth groups, fellowships and christian communities. Groups bring middle and high school students who desire to live their Christian faith through community service. Tekoa Missions projects are vetted and hand-selected to fit the needs and abilities of each group who registers. Projects include Home Repair, Home Improvement, Community Outreach and Acts of Mercy providing cleaner, safer, and dryer living conditions for the surrounding community.; Tekoa Foothills is seeking adult volunteers to assist with work-site supervision, work-site safety, and prayers for the volunteers as they complete these tasks. Pastor of the Week

During each week of summer camp,will help launch the opening to an exciting week by leading campers in a brief worship service during Opening Campfire. Throughout the week, each family group will have a scheduled Pastor Time in which the volunteer will lead a planned activity or discussion pertinent to the theme of the summer. Nurse of the Week

To help out with scraped knees, tummy aches, and any other bumps and bruises a camper may encounter during their week at camp, the nurse of the week stays on site at Tekoa Foothills. This volunteer position also includes administering prescribed medication to campers at scheduled times throughout the day. The nurse of the week is invited to stay in Lakeside Lodge during the duration of their week at camp. Skill Resource

Throughout the summer, campers have the chance to register for different skill sets within a field of interest to them. The skill groups meet for three hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday morning totaling nine hours for the week. The aim of the skill groups is to equip campers with a comprehensive knowledge and inspired passion for them to continue practicing this skill beyond their week at camp. Non-local artists are invited to stay in Lakeside Lodge.

 

Maintenance Projects

If you are interested in assisting any of the ongoing maintenance projects, please contact the Maintenance Director at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. As the seasons change, we are looking for regular volunteers to help out with mowing the grass at camp. If there is a specific day you are available to help, please contact the Maintenance Director to express interest. There is always work to be done, and your help would be more than appreciated! If you want to volunteer to clean trails, chop firewood, paint a building, pressure wash the sidewalk, blow leaves, plant flowers, build a campsite, etc... please let us know! Individuals or groups are welcome.

 

Service Sunday

On the second Sunday of every month (September-April) from 3:00-6:00pm, there are volunteer opportunities for the community to be involved in Service Sunday. Volunteers help out with a variety of projects around the property of Tekoa Foothills. All the tools will be provided. If any extra materials are needed, volunteers will be informed ahead of time. Safety Concerns

For any maintenance projects, please wear closed-toed shoes and a mask, and bring a water bottle and work gloves. Trained staff will lead these projects and ensure that participants are comfortable using any equipment. Face masks are required while working closer than six feet to other participants and while inside any buildings or restrooms. Tekoa Foothills follows any Covid guidelines set in place by North Carolina and the American Camp Association to ensure the safety of all staff and guests.
